Swaddled by God
"And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn." Luke 2:7
Oh, how precious to swaddle a newborn baby snuggly in a soft, fresh blanket. It is a comfort to both parent and child to be held, loved, and to be still in this way.
Swaddling means wrapping the baby's body and arms such that they are snug and do not flail about. Babies are secure in this position, cared for by another with love.
Recently in talking with someone of a younger generation, I sensed them flailing about. I was reminded that I flail often, too.
But God.
In tenderness and love, He swaddles you and me snug and secure. With Him there is no flailing about. We can be still and trust.
Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world" (NLT).
And, Psalm 63:8 tells us, "I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely" (NLT).
Let Jesus swaddle you tonight.
Good night, Runners.
