You Broke It, He Bought It

"You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men." 1 Corinthians 7:23

Walking through a fine china shop as a youngster, my mother pointed to a sign on one of the store shelves.  It read, "You break it, you bought it!"  My mother whispered that we must be very careful.  The aisles were narrow and each shelf was filled with beautiful, breakable things costing much more than we could afford.

While I didn't break anything in the shop that day, in the many years since that time, there has been ample opportunity to reflect upon the many things I have broken over the years—countless things.

Yet, so much greater than dwelling on all of the things I have broken in life is God.

God.

Scripture tells us in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds" (NLT).

That's not just my broken heart He heals.  It's all of those whose hearts I have broken by my own sin, as well.

"But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5).

May He bring healing to every wounded part of you today.

Goodnight, Runners.
