One Celebrity - Part Deux

"Where is the one whose power was displayed when Moses lifted up his hand—the one who divided the sea before them, making himself famous forever?" Isaiah 63:12

The recent removal of two prominent pastors in Dallas speaks to the point of this verse.  And for those of us asking God to clean house in His Church, it was a direct answer to prayer.  While I take no pleasure or joy in the fall of any man, I find great joy in seeing the demonstration that there is one Celebrity in all the earth—God alone—and His truth, His fame cannot be mocked or surpassed by any man.

Exodus 34:14 tells us, "You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you."

Make no mistake about it, there will be more to come.  He has to clean out my life and your life, too.  We've allowed too much of the culture to corrupt us.  1 John 2:16 reminds us, "For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world."

Oh, how we desperately need humility and dependence on Him!

May we pray for our pastors, that they would be guarded from the many temptations in this world, from the pride of celebrity status.  May we pray for each other, and our families that we would be guarded from temptation as well, "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" (Matthew 6:13).

"Pray all the time.  Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit’s wishes.  Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere" (Ephesians 6:18, TLB).

Goodnight, Runners.
