Absolute Faith and Unconditional Love
"Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart." Proverbs 3:3
"By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil." Proverbs 16:6
Are you being pruned today?
As God lovingly burns the chaff out of our lives, there invariably comes a time when we must get to the heart of the matter and examine ourselves before Him in terms of the two most important aspects of our relationship. They are the two most important aspects of any relationship—love and faithfulness.
But what is faithfulness, absolute faith? And what is unconditional love? What do they look like?
Hebrews 11:1 (TLB) tells us this, "What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead."
Since I am no scholar and books cannot contain all the things we could write about faith, might I be so bold as to ask you to seek out the meaning of absolute faith by means of the Holy Spirit's power for yourself?
Moving on to the topic of unconditional love, we typically think of this in terms of the manner in which we love others. But what about God? Do we place conditions on the way God can love us? What I mean is if God's love for us does not look or act as we expect, do we withhold our love from Him?
Real love places no conditions on anyone.
Especially. God.
Love is without bounds, but it is not without protective boundaries and discipline. Otherwise, it wouldn't truly be love now, would it? Again, as I am no scholar, I would encourage you to read everything the Holy Bible has in it about love for yourself.
1 John 4:10 says, "In this act we see what real love is: it is not our love for God but his love for us when he sent his Son to satisfy God’s anger against our sins."
And Matthew 18:2-3 warns us, "Jesus called a small child over to him and set the little fellow down among them, and said, “Unless you turn to God from your sins and become as little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven."
I want to be like a child. Do you?
Goodnight, Runners.
