The Dead Zones
“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity.“ Matthew 23:27
”For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12 ).
”So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most“.(Hebrews 4:16).
There’s a dead zone in Houston at Interstate 59 at the loop 610 interchange. Each time I pass this area, my car’s communication system shuts down completely, then restarts a few moments later. When this first began happening, I thought it was the car. But after experiencing the same thing every day and with a completely different car, I knew it was in the air and not my car.
There are dead zones in God’s Church, too. I encounter the same ones over and over again. When calling Christians to repentance from sin, talking with people about a return to Wednesday night prayer meetings, regular reading of and practicing the truths of the Holy Bible there is resistance!
I use to think it was me.
Truth is, most Christians would rather watch their nation go up in smoke than give up their pet sins. If you don’t fall into that category, grab a friend and please join us in prayer every night at 8 p.m. CST for America. We’ll be repenting of our own sin as Christians, worshipping, and engaging in battle against the evil forces all around us.
Goodnight, Runners.
