Prove It
"Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God." Matthew 3:8
On a recent trip home from visiting family I sat on an airplane next to a couple very vocal about their Christianity. Upon our initial exchange, I smiled to have found some fellow believers. Yet, as the flight continued, I was disturbed to see how arrogantly and rudely they treated others on the flight, including the flight attendants serving us all. They went on to tell of their adulteress relationship and how God brought them together.
My friend, God does not condone adultery or any other sin. And while the Holy Bible tells us not to judge the unbeliever in their sin, it does call us not to associate with those who claim to be His and behave like the world.
1 Corinthians 5:9-11 says it so plainly, "When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin. But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or are greedy, or cheat people, or worship idols. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that. I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people."
Christians are supposed to be different. Are you different? Am I different? Can people tell that we are Christians by the way we live? Or, do we continue to make excuses for our failure to practice righteousness?
The Holy Bible makes clear who is and who isn't a Christian. 1 John 3:10 says this, "By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother."
So, are you a Christian?
So, are you a Christian?
Prove it.
Goodnight, Runners.
