Be Love
"This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins." 1 John 4:10
In the words of Mother Teresa, "Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which to look out Christ's compassion to the world. Yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which He is to bless men now.”
Romans 12:10 says, "Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor."
Have you ever taken the time to look in the rearview mirror at your life and think about how far you've travelled in your person-ness?
Recently I did just that and was blown away with gratitude to God—gratitude for all the people who didn't even know they were being used by Him to pour love into my life, to encourage, inspire, admonish, forgive and love when I needed it most and deserved it least.
I'm grateful for God's never-ending mercy, grace, and forgiveness; gratitude for gifts small and large, each listening ear, every hug—unexpected and not; for all the people who chose to be love—in times of pain, difficulty, loss—even in times when I caused the pain, difficulty, loss.
In contemplating these things, God encouraged my heart about all the ways I can be love to someone else—through forgiveness, a second chance, a listening ear, showing up, giving beyond comfort.
Every. Day.
When others do these things for me, it is humbling. Humility takes us places—places only recognizable in the rearview mirror. We all need that.
Let's be love. Now.
Goodnight, Runners.
