Eternal Flame
"The Lord said to Moses, 'Tell the people of Israel to bring you pure olive oil for an eternal flame in the lampstand of pure gold which stands outside the veil that secludes the Holy of Holies. Each morning and evening Aaron shall supply it with fresh oil and trim the wicks. It will be an eternal flame before the Lord from generation to generation.'" Leviticus 24:1-4
Isaiah 42:3 says, "He will not break the bruised reed, nor quench the dimly burning flame. He will encourage the fainthearted, those tempted to despair. He will see full justice given to all who have been wronged."
Reading these words, I am struck by such a strong desire.
I want to be an eternal flame before my Lord. I want to be a pure vessel, constantly trimmed and refined to glow ever brighter for my Jesus, that my deeds might span generations and His pure light within me might draw others to Him.
Don't you?
As we read God's Word and allow it to penetrate our heart and soul, we learn that in order to do this, to be His eternal flame, we must be refined in every way.
Every. Way.
This Scripture speaks about the flame being held in a lampstand of pure gold that is outside the veil that secludes the Holy of Holies. To carry His light, I, too, must be purified. Purification makes things beautiful, like precious gold. And I, too, must come outside and away from the culture and its practices—not in an arrogant way, but in a humble way—not allowing evil practices to corrupt me, and giving reverence and honor to God in a guarding sort of way.
And I have found that our Heavenly Father guards His own light within me, too.
He fans the flame, the burning ember into a roaring fire.
May He always burn brightly within us all.
Oh, praise His name forevermore!
Goodnight, Runners.
