We Are The Reason
“Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came!" John 12:27
While people rush from place to place and store to store during this season we have made so very busy, are we forgetting the reason we celebrate Christmas?
I'm glad Jesus didn't forget even one of us! He never forgot His purpose or exactly why He had come. It was to rescue you and me from chasing after money, or a bigger house, nicer car. It was to keep you from desiring alcohol or vaping as a crutch when the world around you gets to be too much. It was to give you hope when you lose all hope and think no one sees you or knows the struggles you face. It was to show you love when you don't feel loved by anyone in all the world. It was to teach us all that it really is more blessed to give than to receive.
That's why He came. He came just for you.
It's sometimes hard to understand and believe in someone we can't see with our human eyes or hear with our human ears. He is mysterious and His ways are mysterious, too. But just as sure as we can feel the wind and know it is there, though we don't see it or know where it comes from, the Holy Spirit is that real and even more unexplainable.
The depth of His love is mystifying, too. How can a perfect God love me, so imperfect, so full of flaws? And, how can He forgive me?
While I may not understand all of the mysteries and how this One True and Living God does all that He does, I believe.
I simply believe it like a little child believes in Santa Claus. Now that I am old and have followed the ways of Jesus, trusting Him from the time I was a little child, I believe Him even more. I will go where He wants me to go and do what He wants me to do because He has proven Himself to me.
Like the wind.
The wind's power is fearful, though I do not understand it all, I know that much. We do not have to understand all of Him to believe in Him.
This Christmas in all of the hustle and bustle to get things done, may we make sure the most important One takes center stage in your heart and mine.
Jesus is the reason for the season.
Merry Christmas, Runners.
