Prayer Warrior
"When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously." Daniel 6:10
"The Lord is a warrior—Yes, Jehovah is his name." Exodus 15:3
How often do you pray?
The reason I ask is because we're in a war. It's a spiritual war, and we need all the warriors we can get. Our country has turned far away from the God that we trust, the One from whom all blessings flow. It's going to take each and every one of us who believe and follow Jesus to get on our knees and pray for the redemption of our country. This isn't just a one-and-done prayer. This is a persistent widow prayer (Luke 18:1-8), and we need a full army engaged.
The Holy Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Never stop praying."
The prophet, Daniel, prayed three times each day on his knees with the windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed fervently from a pure, obedient heart. As he prayed, God answered in amazing ways. He gave Daniel the answer to not only the meaning of a king's dream, but told him the entire dream, itself (Daniel 2). God interpreted another of the king's dreams (Daniel 4) for Daniel. God gave Daniel the interpretation for a bazaar writing that appeared on the wall at another king's banquet (Daniel 5). God rescued Daniel from a den of hungry lions (Daniel 6). And, God answered Daniel's own very dramatic dreams to give us guidance into the second coming of Jesus (Daniel 7-9).
If the Muslims are praying five times a day, then as Christians, we must do more!
Will you join me in praying for real revival among God's people, the followers of Jesus? We pray silently as a nation every night at 8:00 p.m. CST, but don't just pray then. Pray always! There is tremendous power in the prayer of a committed Jesus-follower. If you are sinning, confess it to another believer and ask them to pray for you to turn from it. James 5:16 tells us, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."
Pray that our hearts would long to obey the teachings of Christ, found in the Holy Bible. Pray that we would separate ourselves from the accepted practices of the culture, that we would repent of greed, gluttony, sexual sin, and all the rest to courageously follow Jesus.
We're in a war. Uncle Sam needs you, and so does team Jesus.
"Praise the Lord, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle." Psalm 144:1
