Who, Not What
"Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed!" Psalm 85:10
When you think about love, what comes to your mind?
Do you think of the things people do that make you feel loved? Do you think of smiles, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, protection?
What about truth? When you think of it, do you think of justice and the right thing being done?
What if I told you that Love and Truth were people--a person, the same person? Would you believe me?
In the modern world, we often dismiss the simple yet profound instruction of the Holy Bible that tells us of this person.
It tells us in 1 John 4:8, "But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love." He is the very definition of love. The more I experience Him in the mess of life, the more I see His love for all that He has made, everywhere! He is limitless, and so is His love. The two cannot be separated. They are One and the same.
When Jesus was brought to Pilate before the crucifixion, He explained that He was the definition of truth, as well. His simple explanation went right over Pilate's head, to the ears of those with childlike ears, hearts.
Listen to the exchange between Pilate and Jesus in John 18:37-38, Then Pilate said to Him, "Are You a King, then?" Jesus answered, “You say that I am a King. For this reason, I am born. And for this reason, I came into the world; that I should bear witness to the Truth. Everyone that is of the Truth, hears My voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said that, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, “I find no guilt in Him at all."
Jesus had explained the same thing to Thomas and the other disciples at the Last Supper, recorded for us in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, ‘I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, if not by Me’”
So, do you know the One who is Love and Truth defined? Do you know Jesus? If not, I encourage you not to rest until you do!
Your life will never be the same.
Goodnight, Runners.
