Christian Codgers
"Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:29
Do you have a teachable heart?
Sometimes we can become proud and unteachable without realizing how off track we really are.
Has that ever happened to you?
I think it is especially easy for those who have been followers of Jesus for a long time to become Christian codgers. We can see ourselves as the teachers and forget that we still have much to learn, ourselves. We forget that God uses the foolish to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27). He uses the base things of the world, the things which are despised, to bring to nothing the things that are something (1 Corinthians 1:28). We forget that God, Himself, is OUR teacher, and ALL we like sheep have gone astray (Isaiah 53:6).
I am grateful that God lovingly reminds all who think they have arrived--or think that they are at least closer--that sometimes they have been outrun by the child (Isaiah 11:6), the newbie.
Have you been outrun by the child today?
Run and catch up! That child may just have a little something, by God's grace, they can lovingly impart to you today.
Goodnight, Runners.
