Afraid of the Moon

“The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.”  Psalms‬ ‭121:6‬

It sounds silly to say it now, but when I was a little girl, I was afraid of the moon.  I remember sleeping under the big night sky and being enamored by the stars, but when I caught a glimpse of the moon, it was pure fright.

My mother would remind me that the moon wasn’t going to get me, and that the Holy Bible tells us in Psalm 56:3, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”

I think it was the fact that even as a youngster, I associated evil deeds with the night time, and never really enjoyed being out after dark.

I still don’t care to be out in the night time—unless it is to gaze at the beautiful stars God has placed in the heavens.

As I was reflecting on my somewhat irrational fear of the moon, God opened my eyes to the beautiful passage of Scripture, Psalm 121:6 above.  How amazingly vast is God’s love for us—that He would tell me I don’t have to be afraid of the moon!  This passage goes on to say, “The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever” (Psalms‬ ‭121:7-8‬).

Are you afraid of something, anything?

Whatever it is, you can trust the Lord with it.

He never slumbers or sleeps (Psalm 121:3-4).

Goodnight, Runners.
