Above the Noise
"Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." Colossians 3:2
It's noisy where I am today.
When it's noisy I have trouble hearing the promises of God, the words I know to be true, that I have experienced firsthand.
When it's noisy I have trouble seeing the way of escape that God has clearly made for me, set right in front of me, when temptations come.
Sometimes the negative noise of the world can be overwhelming. Jesus escaped the noise of the world, as Luke 5:16 tells us, "But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer."
Today, we must do likewise, and rise above the noise.
When we rise above the noise, we see the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We hear His promises and His truth. And, the way of escape He has made for us is not only clear, it is lined with runway lights and exit signs.
He is calling us above the noise today, and while we answer His call to leave the noise of the world behind, He reminds us that we must return to the noise tomorrow, to do His work. And, He is with us there. He never left us there. And, even in the noise, He is enough.
"Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News." Philippians 1:27
