Coming Out of the Closet
"Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
In the latest edition of Decision magazine, Franklin Graham speaks honestly about social media's agenda to promote its own version of morality, its own moral standard. Facebook temporarily banned his account over a post supporting North Carolina's HB2, which prevents men from using women's restrooms and locker rooms, protecting the safety and privacy of women and children and protecting the human rights of millions of Christians in North Carolina. They later restored the account, issuing an apology.
I recently experienced a similar issue with both Facebook and Twitter when posting a passage of Scripture, 1 Timothy 1:8-11. Facebook delayed to make the post available, but I am grateful that they did make it available. Twitter has shadow banned many of my posts, which are composed primarily of Scripture. Many are now banning the use of Scripture, calling it hate speech because it dares to call our current culture into question, to present God's standard of truth.
Even more alarming is the fact that God's truth about topics like homosexuality and abortion seem to have gone into the closet in pulpits across our country. They have become silent about sin. It appears as though many pastors are afraid they will lose their congregation if they speak God's truth, the truth rejected by our current culture and social media giants with their own agendas. But, it is the only truth that will stand the test of time. It is the only truth with the ability to free a trapped, imprisoned soul.
I am grateful for those still proclaiming God's truth: my own father, Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffress, John MacArthur, Eric Metaxas, and many others.
God's truth about sin is the only thing that will free us. He is the only One with the power to save us. And, God's truth requires repentance--a word that, sadly, hasn't been spoken in many churches--ever.
His truth gives us hope. There is forgiveness for sin.
Matthew 12:20-21 encourages us with these words, "He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. And his name will be the hope of all the world."
It's time for pastors to stop being silent about sin and come out of the closet.
Won't you join me in praying for a revival to take place across our land?
I see it beginning.
Goodnight, Runners.
