A Christmas Gift for Jesus
“When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, 'Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.'” Luke 5:8
Do you ever feel like Simon Peter in this passage of Scripture?
Feeling unworthy to be in God's presence, let alone have the gift of God's salvation, is what prompts us to continually strive to earn it. But, we can't. There's no way we can ever earn it. We feel unworthy because we are unworthy. That's why the woman broke the alabaster jar with expensive perfume and poured it on Jesus' head (Mark 14:3).
She was grateful, so she gave Jesus a gift. Gifts aren't meant to be paid back. That's what makes them gifts. But, I'm always grateful for gifts.
Aren't you?
Are you grateful for God's gift of salvation? If so, why don't you give Him a gift this Christmas? I know just the thing. How about giving him you? Not just a part of you, but all of you. The best you. A disciplined and obedient you. A loving, serving, generous you.
After all, He did make you. He gave you life. He formed you in your mother's womb (Isaiah 49:5). Not only that, but He gave you His life, too. He gave it freely on a cross, along with the choice to live with Him or without Him. Think about every word you just read. Really think about it.
In Matthew 7:21, Jesus tells us, "Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter."
Are you holding any area of your life exclusively for yourself today? Why don't you give it all to Jesus?
I can't think of anything He'd rather have for His birthday.
Goodnight, Runners.
