The Best Surprise
"Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment." John 5:28-29
I love a good surprise.
Don't you?
When I was a sixteen-year-old kid, a bunch of my girlfriends got together to give me a surprise going away party before I went off to college. My parents had to be in on it, since I'm pretty good at fishing around and ruining my own surprises. Everyone did a really great job of keeping it a secret--something I always aspire to and admire in others. I was so overwhelmed by their love, that even though it happened long ago, I will never forget the kindness shown to me and the lengths they went to in making it a true surprise.
God is pretty great at surprises, too. Have you ever noticed that?
He surprises us with prayers answered at just the right time and in just the right way, He blesses us with good things, He catapults us to places we never expect, and He encourages us just when we need it most.
But, there's coming a surprise that's so great--it will be the best surprise EVER!
One day, Jesus is going to come again. The Holy Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:7, "Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever."
Are you ready?
Luke 12:37 tells us, "The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat!"
May we all be ready to experience this best surprise--whenever it may occur.
Goodnight, Runners.
