No More Summer Burn
“They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.” Revelation 7:16
In Texas, our summers are long and hot. No matter how much sunscreen my mother slathered on my fair skin as a child, and much to her chagrin, I never failed to come into the house burned to a crisp by the end of the day.
The aftermath was a miserable experience of ice baths, Noxzema, aloe vera, and other home remedies—all aimed at soothing my sun-scorched body.
In stark contrast, Revelation 7 is a beautiful picture of God’s mercy lavished on His followers prior to the tribulation. Before the angels are unleashed to bring destruction upon the earth, God shouts for them to wait until each of His children can receive the seal of God upon their foreheads.
When the tribulation is over, John sees them as a great crowd, with their faces down, falling before the throne of God in worship, praise and song.
The Scripture goes on to say that God will be their shelter, and Revelation 7:16-17 says, “They will never again be hungry or thirsty; they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun. For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
I don’t know about you, but I am longing for the day when I will never be scorched by the sun, where there are springs of living water, and where God will wipe away every tear from our eyes.
