Divine Passion
"He put on righteousness as his body armor and placed the helmet of salvation on his head. He clothed himself with a robe of vengeance and wrapped himself in a cloak of divine passion." Isaiah 59:17
Are
you a passionate person?
This
verse tells us that Jesus is.
Christ wrapped himself in a cloak of divine passion. A
life of God’s kind of passion is a life that is full to the brim with emotion, but it is controlled emotion. A person who lives a passionate life feels deeply--very deeply. A
person who lives a passionate life is aware of and completely sensitive to others, and to their needs.
God
is passionate in His love for you and for me, too (Zechariah 8:2).
God’s
passion does not follow after the desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. On the contrary, as James 4:5 tells us, “Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that
the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him.”
When God sees there is no justice, He is displeased and intervenes to help the oppressed. He takes all of the injustices in the world, all the evils, and all of the wrongs, and He weaves them together in a brilliant tapestry of justice, beauty and goodness. And, He wastes not one strand in the process.
Romans 8:28 tells us, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
May you follow Him to the high places, that you may help those experiencing injustice in low places, leading them to Jesus Christ, as you have been led and helped.
That is what real passion looks like.
Goodnight, Runners.
