Earnest and Disciplined Prayer

"The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers." 1 Peter 4:7

Are you earnest and disciplined in your prayer life?  What does it mean to be earnest and disciplined in prayer?

Earnest prayer is that which is borne out of the heart’s conviction.  It is prayer with longing and urgency.

James 5:16 tells us, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

Disciplined prayer is that which we regularly do in obedience to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  It is consistent and persistent.  There is no end to its zeal, its passion.

The example of Jesus’ discipline in prayer is repeated throughout Scripture for us to follow, as Luke 5:16 reminds us:  “But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.”

Do you need answers?  If so, then you also need an earnest and disciplined prayer life.

Remember that you should never give up (Luke 18:1) and never stop praying (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
