Stop the World
“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:10
Do you ever feel as though you’d like the world to stop so that you can get off?
Perhaps you are overwhelmed with your circumstances. Or, maybe you just feel as though you cannot go on in your present situation.
God does want us to stop and be still at times, but not so that we can get off this crazy ride called life. It is so that we can recognize His sovereign, loving control of things—all things. It is so that we can know but a taste of all that He is doing in and around us. And, it is so that we may honor our Lord and Savior for all that He is.
Psalm 104:1 says, “Let all that I am praise the Lord. O Lord my God, how great you are! You are robed with honor and majesty.”
Often we want the world to stop out of frustration that we do not see the justice of the Lord. Yet, the Holy Bible tells us in Psalm 37:7, “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”
May we honor our God by acknowledging His sovereign ability to act on our behalf at the perfect time, and in the perfect way.
