Hurricane Harvey
"He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves." Psalm 107:29
Hurricane Harvey has battered the Gulf Coast, leaving a mess in his wake, a mess that will take weeks, months, even years for some to clean and rebuild. But this storm has stirred something else within the hearts of Texans. It is something beautiful. Many have called it the Texas spirit, but it's much bigger than that--bigger even than Texas.
It's the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is powerful. We've seen His mighty power in our leadership from Washington down to our subdivision management, and everywhere in between--before, during, and after Hurricane Harvey. We've seen a humbling of hearts and an outpouring of love and generosity in proportions that can only be the mighty hand of God.
And, this power, God's power, is real.
Do you know this power? Do you know Jesus? I pray that if you don't know Him, that you will invite Him into your heart and life today, that you will repent of sin and give Him complete control of everything that you have and everything that you are.
This is my prayer for you today, wherever you find yourself in life. It is Romans 15:13, which reads, "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."
Amen.
