When God Calls
“Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:9-10
Do you have a tendency to run and hide under the bed at the slightest hint that God may be calling you to do something for Him? Perhaps you’re covering your ears now, saying, “I can’t hear you!”
Just what is it that we’re afraid of? Maybe we’re afraid He will ask us to be a missionary to a cannibalistic tribe in Zimbabwe. Or, perhaps we’re afraid He’ll ask us to speak to the bully we know about His love.
When God calls us into action for Him, it is rarely comfortable. It wasn’t comfortable for Moses. It wasn’t comfortable for Abraham, Jeremiah, and many others whose stories are found in the Holy Bible. It wasn’t even comfortable for Jesus.
It may not be comfortable, but when we are obedient to answer God’s call, it always results in a blessing for us and for others. When Moses finally answered God’s call, the entire nation of Israel was released from bondage and slavery.
I want to be a part of that blessing—the blessing of answering God’s call.
What about you?
May we answer God when we hear Him calling us to action—each and every day.
