The Coal Miner's Daughter
“Now set the empty pot on the coals. Heat it red hot! Burn away the filth and corruption.” Ezekiel 24:11
I am proud to be the Coal Miner’s daughter.
No, I wasn’t born in a cabin on a hill in Butcher Holler. And, my earthly father was no coal miner. But, my Heavenly Father spied this dirty lump of coal, and saw instead a diamond in the rough.
He picked me up, and each day He burns away more of the filth and corruption in my life, shining and polishing as He goes.
Not everyone sees the diamond I am becoming. Some still see the coal and the ash scattered around. But, that’s okay because the Holy Bible tells me what God has done for Israel, and I know He will do the same for me.
As Isaiah 61:3 tells us, “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.”
One day, when God is finished with us, Colossians 3:4 reminds us, “And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
How blessed we are to be mined and polished by the Master.
