I Can Begin Again
“But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over.” Jeremiah 18:4
Have you ever felt as though your life was not turning out quite as God’s perfect plan would have it to?
Me, too.
Yet, we are all formed by His hand. Our Lord is the potter, and we are His clay (Isaiah 64:8). And, we must never argue with our Creator, as Isaiah 45:9 warns us, “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’”
There are times I feel as though the pain of life is so great that God must be crushing me back into a lump of clay to begin again. It is at these times that I realize with great joy that He is lovingly and carefully fashioning me into exactly who He wants me to be.
Philippians 1:6 promises us, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Do you feel as though you are being crushed back into a lump of clay?
Be encouraged.
God isn’t finished with you yet.
