Heaven-Minded
“So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other." Deuteronomy 4:39
Have you ever heard the saying, "Don't be so heaven-minded that you're no earthly good"? I've heard it many times over the years, but if we examine God's Word, we find there is no truth to this saying.
In truth, the only way to be any good on this earth at all is by being heaven-minded.
2 Corinthians 4:18 tells us, "So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."
It is only by fixing our eyes and thoughts on heaven that we can be of any earthly good at all. Heaven-thinking causes us to shift our focus past our temporary, earthly struggles. These things no longer consume us. We consider the needs of others more, and we find it easier to trust and obey Christ.
May you fix your eyes on heaven today, that your life may be used for much earthly good.
