Preparing for Winter
“She has no
fear of winter for her household,
for everyone has warm clothes.” Proverbs
31:21
Have you ever noticed how God has programmed all of nature to prepare for the changing of the seasons?
The bears begin to eat ravenously in autumn to prepare for their winter hibernation. Their coat of fur grows long and thick.
Then there are the ants. Proverbs 30:25 says, “Ants—they aren’t strong, but they store up food all summer.”
But, there is more to preparing for the winters in our lives than just having enough food and warm clothing.
There is a day of battle coming, and we must be prepared for it. Yet, our preparation is not enough. The final victory belongs to God, and we must have faith enough to trust Him to be the victor.

Our
spiritual winters require a steady diet of God’s Word in preparation for the
difficulties and spiritual famines that come.
We must meditate on His Word day and night to combat the forces of evil
when they come against us.

Proverbs
21:31 tells us, “The horse is prepared
for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”
May you meditate on God’s Word so that
you will be prepared when winter comes.
