When Nobody's Looking
"May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.” Psalm 25:21
Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching us. And, while we think no one is watching, we know that God is always watching what we do.
Proverbs 15:3 tells us, “The LORD is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.”
When my son was in pre-kindergarten, he was quite upset over another little boy who had a propensity for doing wrong, especially when the teacher wasn’t looking. My son was disturbed because the little boy never seemed to get caught.
"It isn’t fair,” he would say to me.
I gently reminded him that God sees. God always sees, and the Holy Bible reminds us that we will all reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7).
Numbers 32:23 tells us to be sure that our sin will find us out, and Ecclesiastes 12:14 says, “God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.”
So, what about you? And, what about me? Are we lacking in integrity? Are there things that we are doing in secret that we’d rather not have exposed?
May we bring them before the throne of God today, may we repent, and seek His mercy and forgiveness.
And, may we choose to live a life of humble service and integrity that is pleasing to God today and every day.
