Quiet Please
“Teach me, and I will keep quiet. Show me what I have done wrong.” Job 6:24
Do you talk too much?
Or, are you a good listener?
Perhaps you know someone who talks too much, and just can’t seem to reign in their tongue.
The Bible talks a great deal about the importance of being quiet. Many times we are so busy running our minds and mouths that we miss the blessings God is trying to bestow upon us.
That was the case in Deuteronomy 27 as Moses and the Levitical priests were giving the Israelites instruction with regarding the blessing they were about to receive. They were about to enter the land flowing with milk and honey that God had promised them.
Yet, Deuteronomy 27:9 tells us, “Then Moses and the Levitical priests addressed all Israel as follows: “O Israel, be quiet and listen! Today you have become the people of the Lord your God.”
Israel was having trouble keeping quiet long enough to receive the promised blessing.
What about you?
Are you so busy figuring things out and running your mouth that you fail to hear or receive the blessing of the Lord?
“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him” (Psalm 62:5).
