The Dark Ages
“Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.”
John 12:35
The real Dark Ages are not the period of intellectual and economic regression some suppose them to be after the collapse of the Roman empire. The real Dark Ages existed in the past and exist today in the lives of those who do not walk in the light of Jesus Christ.
These individuals may think that they know where they are going as they follow a plan of their own design and making. Yet, they do not see where their own road is truly leading them.
Those who choose their own way, the way of darkness, may see the fine trappings along the side of the road they are travelling, and the journey may even appear to be somewhat smooth. However, the final destination has been obscured from their view. Satan does this intentionally. He does not want them to step out of the Dark Ages and into the Age of Enlightenment.
May we never allow the corruption of the world to crowd out the enlightenment of God, causing us to be spiritually dull and indifferent.
May we work diligently every day to allow the light of Christ to penetrate our lives, giving light to everyone who might be in the dark around us.
