Real Repentance

"For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death."  2 Corinthians 7:10

Repentance.

It's not enough to feel bad when we do something wrong.  When the bad feeling wears off, we're right back into our sin.  That's worldly sorrow.  That's the kind of sorrow that leads to death.  Why?  Because that kind of sorrow doesn't bring about change in our lives.

Godly sorrow is different.  Godly sorrow changes us.  It says, I'm not going to do this anymore.  Godly sorrow holds no regret, but is joyful about the change that God has wrought in our lives.  It is overwhelmed by the goodness of God, and it is focused on Him and only Him.

Real repentance is a turning away from sin.  It is a decision to stop sinning.  As Jesus said, "Go and sin no more" (John 8:11).

Do you really long to be close to Christ?  Then, dwell on His goodness, repent of your sin, and make it a priority to put Him first in every area of your life.

And, may this be the best day you've ever had in your life.
