Moral Decay
"For the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he had encouraged moral decline in Judah and had been continually unfaithful to the Lord." 2 Chronicles 28:19
Moral decay is everywhere around us. It is in our schools, on television, in our neighborhoods, in our government, and, sadly, it is in our churches, too.
This isn't a warm and fuzzy post, but it is relevant and necessary.
In the passage today, we learn that King Ahaz did not follow after God, as his father, David, had. Because of this rebellion and disobedience, his country, Judah, was defeated by Syria and Israel. The Bible tells us there was a great slaughter, and 200,000 women and children were taken captive.
Sadly, King Ahaz only grew more wicked and disobedient, resulting in his death.
How long will we sit silently, allowing moral decay to continue around us? How long will we accept "the little things" that are wrong, allowing them to continue without taking a stand?
May God convict us of our sin and disobedience, and spur us on in faithful service to Him.
