A Case of Mistaken Identity
She turned to leave and saw someone standing there. It was Jesus, but she didn’t recognize him.
“Dear woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who are you looking for?” She thought he was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him.” John 20:14-15
Mary thought she knew Him. They had spent so much time together. How could she possibly not recognize Him, her Savior?
Yet, it happened. She mistook Him for someone else.
What about you?
How many times have you failed to recognize Him . . . at work in your life . . . in the life of someone else . . . or, right beside you?
Do you really know and recognize Christ?
John 10:3 says, “The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.”
May we get to know the person of Jesus Christ so deeply that we never fail to recognize Him.
