A Prayer for Strength
‘And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.’ (2 Corinthians 12:9)
I don’t know what crisis, what weakness has brought you to this page. But, I do know that the Holy Spirit helps us in time of weakness. In fact, the Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit helps us in knowing how to pray in our times of weakness.
Romans 8:26 tells us, “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.”
What God desires from us is total and complete dependence upon Him in faith. Then, we are useful to Him, and then we are in a place to receive His strength and blessing in our lives.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
Dear Heavenly Father,
We need Your strength. We know that Your power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Helps us to depend upon You, Father, and teach us how we should pray at this time.
Father, we our nothing without You. Restore our strength as we wait and depend upon You. We thank You that Your weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength (1 Corinthians 1:25). Make us like You, Lord.
Forgive us for trying to do things in our own strength. Give us utterance in the things we should ask of You, Father.
We thank You and praise You for being our strength and our song, and for giving us victory through Your Holy Spirit.
We pray all these things in Your perfect, holy name.
AMEN.
