Out of Balance
"A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is His delight." Proverbs 11:1
Have you ever driven a car with one low tire?
This week as I was driving the kids to school, I noticed the "your tires are in trouble" light on my dashboard. As usual, I was in a hurry with no spare time for tire checking, so I kept going. I couldn't tell a difference in the ride as I drove.
But, the warning light was there.
A day later, and the out-of-balance light was still on, and I had done nothing about it. I looked at the tires, and couldn't see a difference in them. Still in a hurry, I decided to wait until I had more time on the weekend. I continued on to work.
Leaving work the next day, I came out to find one nearly flat tire on my car. Why was I surprised?
The warning light had been on, yet I chose to ignore it.
Often when our lives become unbalanced we choose to ignore the blaring warning light flashing in front of us, saying, "Fix this now! Before it's too late!"
Yet, all too often we continue on, full speed ahead . . . into disaster.
And, then . . . we wonder why.
It happens because our hearts are hard, we're out of fellowship with Christ, our God-given consciences have been ignored so long that they're of no use to us anymore . . .
But God can make all things new . . . even cold, hardened hearts and seared consciences.
Won't you ask Him to do that for you today?
Dear Heavenly Father,
My life is so far out of balance. I have ignored You and every warning sign you've sent my way. Please soften my heart, Father. Make it warm and new.
I want to be pleasing to You. Forgive me, Lord.
In Jesus name, I pray.
AMEN.
May you have the best, balanced day you've ever had in your life.
