A Prayer to Cast Out Satan and Demons

Satan and his power are real. I can tell you that from personal experience. I have seen him at work in the lives of people very close to me, attempting to thwart our efforts in obedience to Christ. I have seen him at work in my own life—tempting me away from the things I know are right, the things I know are pleasing to God.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

We must always be on guard against the attacks of the evil one. The best way to do this is through daily prayer, Bible reading, and fellowship with other believers. Often people are drawn away from fellowship with other believers because of perceived hypocrisy. In such cases, because of sin, their consciences have been seared as with a hot iron (I Timothy 4:2). Their consciences are no good to them anymore. Their consciences tell them that evil is good and good is evil! We must, therefore, restore and admonish one another in love, strengthening our unity in Christian brotherhood—our unity against the dark forces of this world. I Peter 5:8 tells us, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Jesus cast out devils and demons on a regular basis during his ministry on Earth. He enabled his disciples to do the same. But, there was an instance recorded in the New Testament in which a distraught father brought his son to the disciples for healing.

The father explained that his son had been possessed by a demon that caused him to have violent convulsions, grinding his teeth and foaming at the mouth. The disciples had been unable to cast out this evil spirit, so the father came and brought the boy to Jesus. Later, the disciples asked Jesus privately why they had been unable to cast out this demon. Mark 9:28-29 gives Jesus’ response, “Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, ‘Why couldn’t we cast out that evil spirit?’ Jesus replied, ‘This kind can be cast out only by prayer.’”  Some manuscripts add "and fasting" as the Greek νηστείᾳ (interpreted "fasting") is found in the Textus Receptus but not in the Morphological GNT.  Regardless of this difference, there is no doubt that the humble act of fasting brought deliverance to God's people throughout Scripture, and continues to do so today.

We can follow Jesus’ example and pray for devils, demons and all manner of Satan’s evil influences to be cast out and removed from among or around us, and we should pray in this way as often as it is needed.

Dear Father,

Please cast the devil out of ___________________, we beg of You. We thank You and praise Your holy name for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We know that You are not the author of confusion, but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33).

We claim Your promise, Father, that if we resist the devil, he will flee from us (James 4:7). We thank You for giving us the power to cast out demons in Your name. Father, we rebuke Satan’s power; and, we rebuke the power of any and all evil influences over this household, this people, and this situation. Evil is not welcome here. It must be cast out into the pit of hell.

Guard our bodies, minds, hearts, souls, spirits and emotions from any and all evil influence and temptation. We thank You for making a way of escape for us in every temptation in order that we may stand firm in the way of right (1 Corinthians 10:13).

We bind Satan’s power against us. We bind his power against this household in the name of Jesus.

We thank You for allowing this situation to strengthen our faith and our trust in You and Your divine power. Help us to be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16).

We thank You and praise You for hearing and answering our prayer.

In Jesus precious name we pray.

AMEN.

You forgot the part about fasting and prayer related to this casting out:

Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.KJV
Matthew 17:21 This kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. KJV
Thank you for your comment. The ESV and other translations, as used above, do not add the word fasting. God sees our hearts. May God richly bless you!

The word "fasting" has been removed from the versions you posted. Fasting is important. We have to be careful not to add or remove from the Word.

Hi my name is Billy I have been an Addict for a very long time I started seeing this demon around my house I started recording him he started to telling me to die I got to ask him what he wanted he said me and I was freaking out the main thing I needed to do was first to forgive God because I lost my son when I was 18 he died from natural causes he was 30 days old I was sober then but that’s when I went downhill well I have forgiven God realize it is not his fault that is what the devil wanted me to do and they pounced on that and I have a video of this demon in my house staring at me peeking around corners looking at me I have pictures of him the priest told me to pray i’ve been praying and praying and praying ever since I’ve gotten myself sober I don’t live by the Bible every day I’m not a complete saint I do pray I am sober now but he still around this demon is still here so I just tried this thing that you guys just had on here that I was just reading I hope it works
If anybody has actually use this and it has worked please let me know and if somebody can give me some pointers please do so if you don’t mind I’m open for anything
Hi, Billy,
May God richly bless you and my heart aches for your situation. You mention that you are not always living for God. Our Savior, Jesus, the Holy Bible tells us is jealous for us. He also tells us that if we resist the devil, he will flee. What this looks like in your life and mine is a decision to completely turn away from the world and the devil and cling to Jesus. It is a constant daily choice, and in that choice God will give you victory. This prayer, aside from full commitment to Jesus, will do nothing for you aside from making the demons laugh. I encourage you to get on your knees before the Lord each morning, first thing when you get out of bed. Give the day to Him, ask for His help to reject the world and follow Him. Then find a closet and take your paper Bible in that place, read it and pray. Just pour your heart out to the Lord. At the end of the day, do the same thing and repent of your sins. Throughout your day, ask Him to help you and guide you. As you do this, He will lead and direct your path and the demons will flee. Praying for your victory in these things, Billy.

Should we or did Bible says we must pray out loud when praying for PRAYER TO CAST OUT SATAN AND DEMONS?
The Holy Bible does not specify.
