He Never Changes
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
I don't know about you, but this week has been frought with change for me. Our church changed its name from Williams Trace Baptist Church to Sugar Land Baptist Church; rumors swirled about my employer, Continental Airlines, merging and becoming United Airlines; my children's school changed carpool procedures in anticipation of a merger with the middle school; and, even my 81-year-old mother changed her hair color from the deep brown I've always known to shocking red. For someone who still wears the same sweats that have paint on them from a house we lived in over 7 years ago, that's too much change! Stop the world! I want to get off!
Oh, sure I love a new dress or a new twist on a favorite chocolate something-or-other like everyone else, but I prefer to be eased into, rather than catapulted into, big changes (much like the frog in last week's post).
Thankfully, whenever I'm feeling anxious about all the big changes going on, I know first to be anxious for nothing and to pray with thanksgiving about everything. And second, I take comfort in knowing that God never changes. He will always love me, protect me, strengthen me, provide for me, and uphold me with His faithful, loving, and mighty hand.
May you know the peace and comfort of God's unchanging love this week, and may it be the best week you've ever had in your life.
