Guard Your Heart
"Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life." Proverbs 4:23 NLT
There is a wonderful little preschool song I have sung to my children since birth called, "Oh, Be Careful" that epitomizes this verse to me. The words go something like this:
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see.
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see.
For the Father up above is looking down in love.
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see.
Oh, be careful little hands what you do.
Oh, be careful little hands what you do.
For the Father up above is looking down in love.
Oh, be careful little hands what you do.
The verses go on to include being careful little feet where you go, and being careful what our little mouths say, too.
I find that no matter how old I get, these words hold so true and crucial to the job of guarding my heart, protecting it from the world, and staying close to my precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After all, how well I guard my heart will determine the course of my life--yours, too.
Today, I pray, that together we will guard our hearts above all else, in order that God's purposes may be established in them.
May you have the best day you've ever had in your life.
