Joyfully Pleasing God
"And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him." Hebrews 11:6 NLT
Are you a pleaser? We've all heard the saying, "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." This saying has always been a bur in my saddle because I am a pleaser. I like to make others happy, and what they think about me has always mattered a great deal. I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if I felt the same way about what God thinks about me.
The Bible teaches us that we should consider others (Romans 15:1), but it also tells us that there are things in our lives that can prohibit us from ever pleasing God. Those things are sin and a lack of faith. Romans 8:7-8 says, "For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God."
Whether you are a pleaser or not, I am praying that you will strive to please God this week and every week of your life. And, may this be the best week you've ever had in your life.
