Joy in Marriage
Have you noticed that there seem to be a great deal of marital struggles around you lately? Boy, I have! Satan is really attacking our families!
This isn't a new struggle. My parents struggled, grandparents struggled, my in-laws struggle, and my husband and I struggle, as well.
What concerns me in this struggle is the lies Satan feeds us--and we tend to believe them! He says things like, "You don't deserve this," "God intended better for you," "Do you really think this is God's plan for you/your marriage?" Have you heard those lies and others whispered in your ear?
The Bible tells us that the marriage vow is sacred. It is not to be entered into lightly, and we are never promised that the road will be easy.
Ecclesiastes 5:5 says, "It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay."
Remember the story of Jephthah in Judges 11. Jephthah made a vow to God that if he was victorious in battle, he would offer the first thing he saw after returning home as a sacrifice to God. The first thing he saw was his only daughter! Jephthah honored his vow to God.
I challenge you to honor your marriage vow today.
May God guard and protect your marriage and family during this holiday season.
